About Whitey's Auto Repair
Welcome to the East Valleys own Whiteys Auto Repair! Family-owned and operated since 1965, for over 44 years our customers have enjoyed superior ASE Certified complete auto repair service, fair prices, and excellent customer service in Scottsdale.
Whitey's Auto Repair started when Paul Almhjell (now known as Whitey) started working for the Song family at J Chew Mexican Imports on the corner of Brown and Main Street in Old Town, Scottsdale when he was 12. The Songs, an entrepreneurial Chinese family, gave Paul his nickname, Whitey, because of his white hair that stuck out like a sore thumb.
Whitey spent four years in the Navy. When he returned, he leased the Songs Shell gas station on the corner of Indian school and Miller Road. Then, he met his wife, Barb, who worked at Goldwaters department store. They got married and used Barbs savings for the businesses cash box and successfully operated the station for 20 years, from 1965 to 1985. They eventually opened another Shell station on the corner of McDonald and Granite Reef, a Texaco on Scottsdale and Main Street and a Mobile on Scottsdale and 2nd Street. Then, they moved operations from the Texaco station to the current location on Civic Center.

Brake Replacement at Whitey's Auto
At Whitey's Auto Repair in Scottsdale, we resurface the rotors on every brake job, except European imports. We only replace rotors if they’ve gotten too thin. European import’s rotors are always replaced and never resurfaced. We have a $10K on-car brake lathe that virtually eliminates any variations in the trueness of the rotor which eliminates brake vibrations. We use quality brake pads and only replace brakes as needed.
